Template “Link click”

📌 Purpose of the template

This template allows you to send a useful resource to a client via a link (for example, a lesson, PDF, or channel invitation) and track whether the client actually clicked the link.

If the client doesn’t click, the bot will automatically send a follow-up message as a reminder or with additional motivation.

This template works for both Instagram and Telegram.

Note: This template is not suitable for automations triggered by a comment in Instagram. If you plan to start it from a comment, you’ll need to adjust the template — instructions are provided below.

How to add the template

How the template works

💬 Block 1 — Message with link button

The client receives a message like:

“Hi! To get your lesson, join my Telegram channel — click the button below 👇.”

🔘 Button “Get the lesson” — links to your chosen resource (for example, a Telegram channel, bot, or external page).
⚙️ Settings included:

  • Click tracking (to record whether the button was pressed)

  • Tag assignment (e.g., tg link) when the button is clicked

➡ This makes it possible to track users who actually clicked the link.

If you’re using this template for the first time, you can keep the default tag. If you’re using multiple “Link Click” templates, make sure each uses a unique tag in both the button settings and the tag check condition, otherwise the follow-up message won’t work correctly.

⏱ Block 2 — Delay

Add a delay (for example, 5 minutes) to give users time to click the link before checking their action.

✅ Block 3 — Condition: “Assigned tags”

This step checks if the tag from the button (e.g., tg_link) has been assigned.

  • If the tag exists → the client clicked the link. You can end the flow or move on to the next step.

  • If the tag does not exist → the client didn’t click, and the bot sends a follow-up message.

Make sure the same tag is used both in the button and in this condition — otherwise the check won’t work.

💬 Block 4 — Follow-up message

If the tag isn’t assigned, the client receives a message such as:

“Looks like you haven’t opened the link yet — what stopped you?”

📌 In this message, you can:

  • Include the link again.

  • Add an extra incentive or explanation to encourage the user to click.

❗ If launching via Instagram comment

Instagram allows the bot to send only one message in Direct as a reply to a comment (platform restriction).

Learn more about comment-trigger limitations.

Because of this, the standard version of this template won’t work correctly for comment triggers.

🔁 To fix this:

  • Create a new message block (card or text + quick reply).

  • Write the text and add a button that leads to the next step.

  • Make this new message the starting block (click the arrow above it).

  • Link the button to the next message — the one that contains the actual link.

All ready to use! Now, when the automation is triggered by a comment, the bot will first send the introductory message with a button.

When the user presses the button, the chat window activates, and the bot can send the full flow, including the message with the link.

Setting the trigger

After you finish editing the automation, set a trigger word to start it. You can do this in the top-right corner of the automation builder.
