When you choose “Comment on a post” as a trigger, automation will launch based on comments left under any of your posts — this includes regular posts, Reels, or saved Lives.
This trigger is ideal for attracting new clients and, when combined with subscription verification, can help convert commenters into followers — for example, in exchange for a lead magnet.
The more engagement your posts receive, the more Instagram will show them in recommendations. This leads to more potential clients who may follow you or complete another target action.
How it works:
When a user leaves a comment with a keyword under your post, Reel, or Live — the bot will automatically reply to them in Direct, launching the automation scenario.
You can choose whether the automation should monitor all your posts, or only specific posts. This allows you to set up different automations for different posts.
Important: To select specific posts, the trigger must be “Comment” only — no additional triggers combined.
Also, when using different posts as triggers for different automations, you can assign the same keyword to all of them if needed.
However, there are some limitations and nuances when using comment-based triggers due to Instagram’s rules for content publishing, ads, etc.
Comments on Instagram do not activate the 24-hour messaging window. In response to a comment, the bot is allowed to send only 1 message.
That’s why, when using a comment as a trigger, your automation must start with a message that includes a button — this enables further interaction beyond that first message.

We strongly recommend setting up auto-replies to comments when using this trigger.
That way, the bot will respond not only in Direct, but also on the comment itself, increasing visibility and interaction.
