How the "Story reply" trigger works

The Story reply trigger allows you to trigger automation as soon as a user replies to your Instagram story. This trigger is very convenient for running scenarios based on any reply the user sends manually.

How it works:

  1. When a user sends any reply to your story, it automatically triggers your automation.

  2. Without keywords: Unlike the "Message in Direct" trigger, there is no need to specify specific keywords or phrases. The automation will work for any reply the user sends manually.

❗ The trigger does not work for reactions, likes, or stickers—only for replies to stories.

Important! When using the "Story Reply" trigger, you cannot set automation to trigger for specific keywords or phrases. The bot will trigger on any user reply sent manually.

If you want the automation to trigger only when a specific message is sent, use the "Direct message" trigger. Replies to stories are treated as messages in Direct, and in this case, the automation will trigger based on the specific user message.

This trigger is perfect for engaging your audience. For example, you can ask users to reply in an open format to a question in your story, and the bot will automatically start a conversation with them, triggering the necessary scenario.

In the scenario, you can set a user reply check using the "variable value" condition, and the bot can send a personalized message, offer products or services, or guide users through additional funnel stages.
