In this guide, we will walk through how to:

  1. prepare your Telegram bot

  2. enable Telegram Business for your account

  3. connect your bot as a chat bot for the business account

  4. enable Business Mode in BotFather

  5. link your bot to ChatPlace and create an AI Agent

After setup, the AI Agent will be able to respond to clients in Telegram 24/7 directly from your business account.

What you need before starting

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Telegram-бот, созданный через @BotFather;

  • Telegram Premium activated on your account

  • the latest version of Telegram (iOS or Android), with support for Telegram Business

  • a Telegram bot created via @BotFather

If your bot is not yet created or connected to ChatPlace, follow the instructions for generating a token via @BotFather first, then return to this guide.

1. Enable Business mode for the Bot in @BotFather

Telegram requires business bots to be switched into Business Mode before they can reply from a business account.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open @BotFather in Telegram

  2. Send the command /mybots

  3. Select the bot you plan to connect

  4. Tap Bot Settings

5. In the settings menu, select Business Mode.

6. Tap Turn on to activate Business Mode.

Your bot is now officially in business mode and ready to work with your Telegram Business account.

2. Enable Telegram Business and open bot settings

  1. Open the Telegram app on your phone

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Find and open Telegram Business

4. Inside the section, open Chat Bots

2. Connect the Telegram Bot to your Business Account

This step links your bot to your personal/business Telegram account so it can reply to private messages on your behalf.

  1. In the “Chat Bots” section at the top, paste the link or username of your bot:

    • the bot link: https://t.me/username_бота,

    • or the bot’s @username.

Next, choose where the bot is allowed to work:

  • All private chats except… — recommended for most users

  • Only selected chats — choose specific chats manually

We recommend starting with All private chats except… so the bot does not miss any conversations.

(Optional) Add exceptions — chats where the bot should not respond. Then scroll down to Bot Permissions and enable:

Allow bot to reply to messages — this will allow the bot to respond on your behalf.

⚠️ Without this permission, your bot will not be able to respond on your behalf, even if everything else is configured correctly.

4. Create an AI Agent in ChatPlace

Once your Telegram bot is linked to your Telegram Business account, return to ChatPlace to set up the AI Agent that will communicate with users.

  1. Open the AI Agent section

  2. Click Create AI Agent

  3. Upload your knowledge base materials

That’s it! your bot is now ready to work as an intelligent assistant inside your Telegram Business account.
