Why and how to move clients from Instagram to Telegram
This guide will help you set up an automated system for moving clients from Instagram to Telegram using ChatPlace. With this setup, you can grow your client base and work with it more efficiently by using the features of both platforms.Unlike Instagram, where client interaction is limited to 24 hours, Telegram allows ongoing communication until the user blocks the bot themselves.
Using this method is helpful for several reasons:
Subscription checks are done for both your Instagram account and Telegram channel. This helps you grow your audience across both platforms.
You’re no longer limited by Instagram’s 24-hour rule — in Telegram, you can send unlimited messages and broadcasts, which are also more stable than on Instagram.
By building your client base in Telegram, you’ll have a more reliable audience for broadcasts and follow-ups. Telegram also offers more interaction options, like sending PDF files, voice messages, or long-form content.
Moving clients from Instagram to Telegram
Note: To move clients from Instagram to Telegram, you’ll need two connected accounts: an Instagram account and a Telegram bot.
This setup requires the Unlimited plan with no limits, or a Pro Plan with an extra account slot.

Step 1: Connect your accounts
First, connect your Instagram account and Telegram bot:
Go to the Automations section in ChatPlace.
Click the “+” next to the list of accounts to connect your Instagram account.
Do the same to connect your Telegram bot.
Step 2: Create the automations
Once both accounts are connected, create two automations. You can use ready-made templates — just edit the message texts to suit your goal:
Automation for Instagram subscription check: This checks if the client is following your Instagram account and, after they follow, delivers a lead magnet:
Automation for Telegram subscription check: This checks if the client is subscribed to your Telegram channel and delivers the lead magnet if they are:
Step 3: Create a link to launch the Telegram automation
Go to the Referral links section and click “+ New link”
Select the Telegram automation you want to link.
Add a custom ending to the link (use Latin characters, numbers, or special symbols — no spaces).
The generated link will launch the selected Telegram automation.
When someone clicks the link, the Telegram bot will start the automation automatically — no need to enter any code words.

Step 4: Add the link to your Instagram automation
Insert the generated Telegram link into the button inside your Instagram automation:
If the user follows your Instagram account, they’ll click the button and be redirected to Telegram — where the Telegram automation starts.
Important: Instead of giving the lead magnet through Instagram, you now give it through Telegram.
Step 5: Set up triggers
For the Instagram automation: set a trigger by going to the top-right corner of the automation and opening “Start Triggers”. For Telegram: the automation is triggered by the link you inserted into Instagram.
For this kind of setup, the best triggers for Instagram are “Direct Message” and “Post Comment” — they help you gather the largest number of clients. But you can choose any trigger type that suits your needs.

Step 6: How the flow works
The user clicks a button in your Instagram automation and they are redirected via the link to your Telegram bot.
The Telegram automation starts.
If needed, the system checks whether they are subscribed to your Telegram channel. If the user passes the check, they receive the lead magnet (for example, a guide or lesson).
You can now continue the interaction in Telegram.
If you haven’t made major changes to the templates and kept the subscription checks, then the user who receives the lead magnet is guaranteed to be subscribed to both your Instagram and Telegram accounts.
This setup helps you effectively move clients from Instagram to Telegram and build stronger engagement.
